GUEST BLOGGER--Author Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen

Hello and welcome to author Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen who is my guest blogger today.

DREAMS AND WRITING: AN INVALUABLE CONNECTION
by Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen

I have always been a vivid dreamer, and I often learn lessons about myself or my life through those dreams, but they have especially influenced my writing. Because of that, I have learned to keep a notebook and pen next to my bed. When I waken from a particularly compelling dream, I quickly write (in the dark and sometimes with my eyes closed) everything I can remember about that dream.

TrappedI’m now especially glad I’ve developed that habit, because my new novel, TRAPPED, is the result of two very different dreams I had a couple of years ago. The first involved a father and his child who were caught in a deadly trap, and the second portrayed a fantastical, archetypal scene of sacrifice which was complete with character motivations. That second dream ultimately became the basis for
TRAPPED’s finale.

How did the story turn out? Here’s a short synopsis: a sheltered, twenty-three-year-old wakens to find a thief in her home only to discover she’s actually caught in a deadly trap of evil traditions and a horrifying family curse only she can end. The majority of it takes place in the Austrian Alps, and it includes minor paranormal elements.

One of the best parts of these dreams, however, is when they come to fruition and I learn readers have enjoyed them in their book form. Thankfully, that has happened with TRAPPED, and I am grateful.

TRAPPED is available at Deseret Book and where LDS books are sold. You can also purchase it online. However, because October is National Reading Group month, I am offering bulk purchase rates for both my books on my website. For a direct link to it or other online venues like Amazon, visit my website at www.rondahinrichsen.com.
