Any day now, we should have the final color version ready to post.

We've taken votes and ideas from Jeanne McKinney's site, and from this blog, and come up with a combination of great features from more than one sketche--with #4 being the main attraction.

Mormon Soprano--you'll be amazed how close your comments are to the finished version.

Eric's done a great job. Can't wait to show and tell.

My two cents:
The sketch numbers are not lined up with the pictures so hopefully people are not getting confused - I liked #1 on my initial quick scan as it says "epic" and tells us there is going to be alot going on It features the pendant right in the middle - however, after slowing and looking at each, #1's design is too busy, and the biggest drawback is the similarity to the Narnia posters. The message seems to scream "religious adventure" and "another knock-off". Big turn offs.

I don't like #3 - too much eye space goes to the girl's back which in body language makes the movie feel unaccessible. Not enough motion and adventure is captured.

I love the eyes and face of the girl in #4 - I think that is what is drawing people to it - however the rest of the poster is boring and does not tell us enough about the story to make it interesting.

It is #2 that intrigues me most. It has the absolute best layout - The cool viking ship coming towards us and the people coming over the hill is exciting and it has a "Lord of the Rings" feel (a definite YES for movie association). I love the cliffs, too. It is that darn face of the girl that ruins the whole poster. It's sour. Have the artist combine the mystic emotion & eyes of face #4 with the design layout of #2 you will have a winner!

I liked sketch 4 the best, followed by sketch 1. I did not like the middle two sketches with the side-on pose - they seemed to be trying too hard. Definitely sketch 4 for me.

Davis--you're right--the artist really did a good job on the eyes. In the screenplay, those amazing blue eyes are important.

I looked at each carefully and like the fourth one the best. #4 is the only one that held my gaze and left me wondering about what might be under the cover. What got me was the eyes. - You're just having too much fun! (But don't stop.)

Anonymous--thank you--your in depth comments are very enlightening. My favorite (by instinct) is also #3.

Not that there is anything at all seductive (in the immoral sense of the word) about the screenplay. But it is captivating and fascinating high adventure, if that's what you mean. I agree--#3 does give that feeling.

Here's my general overview on each of these. The first one is probably the most straight forward in an epic feel. It's fairly predictable and gives a broad feel, not focusing on specifics as much by having multiple characters and elements represented. The second and third are both more on the mysterious side, and perhaps a little more figuratively "seductive". Out of those two, the third one would generally be more friendly and the second more private based upon the direction the character is facing(according to principles of photography..). The fourth picture brings focus to the relationship between the character and the pendant in a dichotomy. This one is perhaps more decisive than the other three. So with that said, I think any of them would work fine depending on what kind of feel you want for your poster. I think I like number 3 the best.

I just double checked the post, and somehow the order they are in on the post and the order they came through on my google reader window were not the same. so what I called #3 is really #2 on your post (the one with the tilted pendant) In other words, I like them in the same order they are posted from 1 - 4 my favorite to my least favorite. Sorry to be so wordy:)
